I loved GT5 as well but with the lack of people to race I just gave up with it as I had nothign to race for. Plus the events were getting a bit annoying and taking ages to build up any sort of cash that I wanted, but we're off topic.

That Thurstmaster looks amazing, it's just a pity it isn't compatible with the Xbox. Anyone heard any news of when the Fanatecs will be released?

They are working really hard to make it happen...Good thing is they will no longer do preorders and make you wait...and wait and...well you get the point. I'd be interested to see how they work compared to the GT2.

Yes! Thanks Magic, is that on the actual Fanatec site? I can't get access to it just now, but it'll be done on Thursday! bounce

EDIT

...and just realized that the pre-orders aren't up for the Elite wheel. Guess I won't be pre-ordering then Sad

I think the MS wheel only works with the MS pedals.

Doing the maths there's not much in it between that and the Clubsport GT2 wheel. So it'll be a matter of preferance in that case.

The thing is, the CSR wheel is basically the GT2 without the Porschness. The CSR elite is a completely different wheel internally so thats the one I want to wait for. Might get the CSR Elite Pedals instead of waiting for the enw clubsports and Shifter though.

The Madcatz wheel should do the job as well as the Microsoft wheel was.. I got a good three years out of my wheel before it packed in.

Obviously this new Madcatz offering looks much improved to the Madcatz wheels of old.

The Madcatz and the Thrustmaster (which has no FFB and is much cheaper than the Madcatz) are my only options. I will probably end up with the Thrustmaster, as I could use it on the PC too, plus I can't really justify paying over £100 for a wheel..

I hope to have a wheel for the start of the 2012 season, that's for sure!

johnnyboy360 wrote:Yeah, the wheel just adds realism to it. Not sure about how much more quicker you can go, but with any wheel I have never been faster. As far as I knew, FFB just pushes against the wheel to feel like you are driving a car properly.

FFB mimics the feedback of the front wheels of the car changing position as it drives over bumps through the wheel.

The 458 Italia wheel actually does have a motor in it, but the motor is used to provide a constant resistance rather than making the wheel jump around.

For example, with an FFB wheel, you can feel the torque steer in a high powered FWD car as the wheel tries to turn left or right. With the 458 wheel, that won't happen, but there will be enough resistance to give a decent feeling in the corners anyway.

The 458 wheel will be built to a much higher standard than the Madcatz one, and by the looks of things its much better quality than the Microsoft one. It also looks really good and has a few extra buttons and switches to play with. It has metal shifters, which should last very long (apparently the shifters on the F430 wheel were brilliant). It has a nice big high diameter wheel, which is realistic. It has that Manetino switch, which can be programmed for a few things. And its also PC compatible, which is exactly what I want so I can have fun playing GPL and the occasional session on rFactor. The only things that it lacks is FFB and a stick shift.

Yeah, I should be happy with the 458 wheel! For £70 its not bad and as you say should be built well!

I really really really want that wheel but I know it's silly when the Elite will be out before the end of the year. I'm just so impatient. Ordered the elite pedals and shifter set though to make sure I don't miss out on them Razz

Nah go Fanatec, I get the impression they are built to last and certainly from better quality materials throughout.
The pedal set looks stunning.
Kinda wish the sequential shifter had a bit more throw to it but that may just be how he was holding it.

The big plus for me with the fanatec is that I will be getting the best wheel currently with new force feedback tech and load cell braking, but not only on my xbox but I can use it on my pc and PS3 as well. I hated having to unbolt my wheels from the playseat and attarch the other one just to play a bit of one game on another console.
